We search for comfort in spaces where light and darkness has found a balance. When so much of Scandinavian architecture today is presented as white and open, we ignore our primal evolution that found us sheltered in caves, gathered around a fire for heat, light, and storytelling. Returning to this “hygge” of dwelling means returning to the use of natural materials and elements; stone, wood, metal, textiles, trees and plants, wind, water, and fire. With these elements in hand, we can continue to discover new ways to create textures from the storied evolution of humankind’s search for the optimal way of living. Using an international design palette, the office intrigues its clients to always strive to implement a finely tuned balance of contrasts that resonates in a luxury way of living—whether it is a small interior space, a showroom, a private home, office buildings, or a large masterplan or any other project undertaken, we depend on natural elements to enjoy life the most.
